When Less Becomes So Much More

Why consolidation, focus, and restraint are sometimes the boldest growth moves in beauty.

n business; especially in the beauty industry, growth is often mistaken for more. More doors. More SKUs. More launches. More everything.

But after two decades of leading in luxury, retail, and transformation, I’ve learned that real growth often starts when we pause, edit, and focus.

💡 Whenever I stepped into a new market, whether in Europe, the Middle East, or Asia; one of the most powerful first moves was often to close stores, not open them.

It sounds counterintuitive, but consolidation brings clarity. By streamlining operations and concentrating resources on high-performing locations, we saw:

✅ Profits increase

✅ Team productivity soar

✅ Customer experience and retention strengthen

When you cut back the noise, The Signal gets Stronger.

🇹🇷 A vivid example comes from Turkey, where we made the strategic decision to close non-performing doors and reinvest in flagship counters and high-potential sites. The outcome? A more profitable, agile, and premium brand presence that reflected true market demand.

💄 The same philosophy applies to product strategy. Trimming SKUs isn’t about cutting;

It’s about Curating!

By realigning the assortment to reflect demographic needs and sales data, you make room for innovation, relevance, and excitement.

I’ve always preferred to say we Retire products rather than Discontinue them, because it reframes the mindset. Brands, like people, evolve. Holding on too tightly to the past can make even the most iconic lines feel tired.

📉 Often, expansion happens organically, especially during surges in retail growth or mall development booms. But as the market saturates, the pendulum swings back.

And those who survive aren’t necessarily the biggest; they’re the ones who know when to Focus, Refine, and Rebuild.

🌸 Because in business, and especially in beauty; Less isn’t the opposite of more. It’s often the pathway to better.
